Third win for Merrijig

Merrijig made the long journey to Carlisle worthwhile when winning the 2m1f handicap under a perfectly-timed ride by Gina Mangan. He was joined in the race by Tarbat Ness who also ran well to be a close sixth.

It was great to have two runners at Carlisle's all-female jockeys meeting and even better to see Gina ride a double in the night, even if the rain had set in hard by then.

Merrijig has been enjoying a busy year after winning on his seasonal debut on Good Friday and also having been placed at Nottingham before a very promising run in competitive company at York on his start prior to Carlisle. We hope to target the London Stayers' Series at Kempton next as he had proved effective on both turf and all-weather.
