Clasina from the clouds

It's a long way from Newmarket to Newcastle, especially for a Friday night meeting, but Star Racing's Clasina made it worthwhile with a scorching last-to-first run in the 7f handicap to clinch the race on the line.

Dropped out in the early stages by Gina Mangan, the five-year-old mare was switched wide with just over a furlong to run, making up a phenomenal amount of ground to beat short-priced favourite Lanarra by a neck.

This was a second victory for Clasina since she joined this stable last summer and we were delighted to get another win on the board for her owner Scott. We look forward to seeing her out again on the all-weather in the coming months.

Bred by Juddmonte, Clasina is a daughter of Oasis Dream out of the Bated Breath mare Gavota, and she certainly has a speedy finishing kick when she needs one.
