Fifth win for Tarbat Ness on his return to Newcastle

Tarbat Ness brought up a hat-trick of wins on the Flat and his fifth overall with an easy six-length victory off the highest mark of his career to date at Newcastle on 15 February.

Having signed off last season with a win at Catterick, he has remained on the Flat bar one hurdles run in heavy ground which didn't appear to be to his liking. But he does appear to like Newcastle and its long straight and he has now won twice there this year, both times ridden by Gina Mangan.

He is due for another fairly hefty rise by the handicapper but continues to be in good form and will hopefully head to Southwell on 4 March before a possible trip to Lingfield on Good Friday.

Tarbat Ness continued a fine string of runs for Beverley House Stables this year. From five runs, John has now been responsible for three wins and two close seconds. Nice work!
