Tarbat Ness posted his fourth win on the Flat with a resounding success at Newcastle on Tuesday, once again ridden by Gina Mangan, who is enjoying a terrific start to the season.

We've also been delighted with the way 2026 has started for our stable, with our only two runners so far both having returned home as winners.

Tarbat Ness has finished first or second in his last six runs on the Flat, with this latest win following up his repeat triumph at Catterick in late October.

He has just turned seven and it is fair to say that he has been a late developer but he is racing very professionally now, thanks to some patient training by John and some judicious rides from Gina.

Duchess, who won earlier in the month at Southwell, returns to the track at Kempton on Wednesday and will be our only other runner this week.

Most of the horses are now back from their winter breaks and have returned to cantering and, with a strengthened line-up this year, we can't wait for spring to arrive.
