Dereham makes us Proud

Dereham continued his fine season with the most impressive win of his career to date when landing the two-mile handicap on Newmarket's July Course.

It's always lovely to have a winner at Newmarket but the day was made even more special by the fact that, in Pride Month, Dereham was racing in the rainbow silks of Racing With Pride and thus became the first horse to carry them to glory. We were delighted to have Rebecca and Abbie from Racing With Pride join us at the races.

Dereham was given a terrifically positive ride from Harry Davies, who surely won't be claiming five pounds for much longer, and looks destined to have a very successful career in the saddle. It was pleasing to see Dereham bounce back from a lacklustre run at Goodwood when the ground was very fast. Saffie Osborne reported that day that he didn't really let down on that ground. Though we have had a prolonged dry spell in Newmarket, Michael Prosser and his team have put a lot of water on the track and the ground was in excellent condition. Ideally, Dereham seems to like softer ground, which hopefully he will find as the year wears on. He has now won three races, two of those wins coming this season.

Hidden Pearl was also in action at Nottingham on Thursday, having run there the previous week and been unlucky not to win. She once again finished second in a strange race in which the winner went a long way clear very early and never came back to the field. Hidden Pearl is such a genuine and honest mare and we feel sure she will win - eventually!

It is fantastic to see the horses running so well, which is all down to the hard work of Jana, Abbie, Ivona and Vendi, so many thanks to them.
