Dereham does it!

It was a very happy day at Yarmouth on Wednesday when Dereham won on his seasonal debut under a very good ride from Thore Hammer Hansen.

Dereham is five now but he is still lightly raced and has taken some time to mature. But he has been training well this spring and we were delighted to see him strike over 1m6f and to do it relatively easily. He is a homebred half-brother to Delatite and Dear Alix so he has been with us throughout his time in training and we hope he can now have a productive season in staying handicaps.

He is a very straightforward horse who makes like very easy for everyone who has to deal with him. He's the smallest horse in the stable but he tries very hard and appears to be a very sound horse. Dereham is the third Sir Percy we've had in the yard – the other two being Grand Liaison and Hope Is High who won 11 races between them. It's easy to see why we are big fans of the Lanwades stallion.
