Beryl Burton built on the promise she has shown in two recent placed efforts for the stable with a stylish win at Ffos Las on Sunday in the hands of Faye MacManoman.
The three-year-old daughter of Sixties Icon was sent to us in June by Doug and Lucy Procter of the Glanvilles Stud Partners and has settled in really nicely, progressing with each run, and we're delighted for all the team at The Glanvilles Stud in Dorset that Beryl is now a winner.
Named after the outstanding British cyclist, the equine Beryl Burton looks a very athletic filly and we hope she will now follow her namesake in making a regular habit of winning. She certainly has the physique of a progressive middle-distance horse and she has been learning with every run.
Congratulations to Doug and Lucy and all their team, and also to Faye, who is a young jockey who surely has a bright future ahead of her. From only two booked rides at the weekend, Faye rode two winners and later picked up a spare ride at Ffos Las. We're sure she is an apprentice we'll be hearing plenty more of in the future.
The stable rolls on to Bath tomorrow with lovely Turn Of Phrase, who has posted several decent placed ruins this season. Unfortunately she has been drawn 13 of 13, but she will be trying her best as always, so fingers crossed for a good run.
